LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The new Apple watch update is good for your heart.
Apple Watch series four can now perform a mobile electrocardiogram. It can’t detect all heart rhythm abnormalities or predict a heart attack, but it can help detect a common condition known as atrial fibrillation. AFib is is a quivering or irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia) that can lead to blood clots, stroke, heart failure and other heart-related complications. AFib symptoms can come and go quickly, before a patient can even get to a doctor, so it can be hard to diagnose.
Once the electrocardiogram function is set up, the Apple Watch can share the results with a physician. You can get the new feature via a software update.
