Toddler killed in crash honored with police procession
Hunter's family said he always dreamed of being an officer, so a police procession escorted his body home from the hospital.

TAYLOR COUNTY, KY (WAVE) - A toddler involved in a multi-vehicle accident in November has passed away.

According to WBKO in Bowling Green, Hunter Hedgespeth, 3, was in a car driven by Sarah Hedgespeth, 30, of Greensburg, on Nov. 27, when the vehicle was hit in a chain-reaction crash.

Hunter was transported to Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville where he died on Wednesday, about a week after the crash.

Family said the young boy dreamed of becoming a police officer. To honor his memory, a police escort led a procession from the hospital back to his hometown of Greensburg.

“It was awesome,” Tessa Abbott, Hunter’s aunt, said. "It made us feel awake because we were so sad today and Hunter’s had such a rough week. This made us feel so much joy because we were so sad and we were able to smile a little.”

Hunter’s organs were donated and are already being used to save another child’s life.
