LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Two weeks after a southern Indiana volunteer fire department went up in flames, donations are pouring in from across the state.
The Deputy Volunteer Fire Department has been receiving loaner equipment and donated tools over the past few weeks from other departments.
Now more help is on the way from across the river.
Buechel Fire and EMS checked their inventory and found some extra tools they could donate to Deputy.
“They are there to provide for their town... and we want them to be able to continue to do that,” Jordan Yuodis, the spokesman for Buechel Fire and EMS, said.
Yuodis said they are sending things like pickaxes, pike poles and closet hooks. He said they are common tools for every fire department.
“They need those things. It’s paramount to operate,” Yuodis said. “It makes it our job a lot easier when we have those tools. So if we have the extra, and we do, we’re going to send what we have to those in need."
Yuodis plans to deliver them to Deputy sometime in the next week or so.
Deputy Volunteer Fire Department Chief Mike Hazelwood said more than anything they need cash donations to help them rebuild their firehouse and pay for any other expenses that come up.
