LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Former Kentucky State Auditor Adam Edelen has announced his candidacy for governor. Edelen and his running mate, Louisville businessman Gill Holland, made the announcement in Lexington this morning. He told the crowd, “So for all of those who refuse to believe that where they start dictates where they end up, for all those who have stumbled, who have fallen, who have been knocked down and counted out. for all of those that believe that with work, tomorrow ought to be better than today, for all Kentucky, I announce my candidacy for governor.”
Edelen addressed education and state pensions, healthcare, the opioid crisis in Kentucky, renewable energy and the necessity for broadband in Kentucky to make the state more competitive.
Edelen is the third Democrat to join the race. Attorney General Andy Besehar and House Minority Floor leader Rocky Adkins are also running in the May 21 primary. Any future candidates must file before the deadline, which is in three weeks.
