LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - One person died in a two-car crash on Dixie Highway in the PRP neighborhood of Louisville Friday evening.

The crash was reported around 4:45 p.m. near Dixie Highway and Fury Way, just south of Greenwood Road, MetroSafe confirmed.

Police said a vehicle headed southbound on Dixie drifted into the northbound lanes, striking the other car.

Investigators determined the driver of the car going southbound, a Fiat, tried to avoid hitting another car that had changed lanes when he swerved into the northbound lanes of Dixie Highway.

The driver of a Dodge SUV was going northbound when the driver of the Fiat swerved, and the cars collided head-on.

A woman riding in a Fiat was killed, according to Louisville Metro Police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley. The victim has not been identified.

The driver of the Fiat and two people in the Dodge were taken to University Hospital. They are all expected to survive, Smiley said.

All lanes of Dixie Highway were closed for several hours as police worked the scene. The road has reopened as of 7:40 p.m.

Police said no charges are expected.
