LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Millions of dollars will go toward renovation and an endowment fund for a Louisville college.
The pledge, which will benefit Simmons College, was announced during the Transform Louisville Education breakfast on Monday.
“My wife and I are pledging $4million,” Simmons College Board of Trustees chairman Barney Barnett announced. “Three million of that is to be devoted to the renovation and modernization of the four buildings on campus and the other $1 million is to be used to establish an endowment fund, which hopefully will provide some income for future needs and it’s our wish that individuals and organizations in the community and the nation will take part in making that $4 million grow.”
The inaugural Transform Louisville Education breakfast was held to highlight how having a historically black college in Louisville helps transform the city and the nation.
