LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - More new jobs are coming to Louisville. On Tuesday the Regional Airport Authority and Compass Airlines announced that the airline's new $9.5 million aircraft maintenance hangar has been complete and is ready to open. The new hangar will open the doors for 70 new full-time jobs with an annual payroll of more than $3 million.
"I appreciate the commitment that Compass and Delta have made to the Louisville Regional Airport, to this region and to the state. And I'm glad we were able to work with them to bring this aircraft maintenance facility to fruition," said Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear.
The facility consists of a 42,720 sq. Ft. Aircraft hangar, over 11,000 sq. Ft. Of office, shop and storage spaces. An 80,601 sq. ft. Concrete apron and over 33,000 sq. Ft. of parking and roadways. The airline operates 36 brand new state of the art Embraer 175 aircraft which will all be serviced at the Louisville Maintenance Facility.
Compass is one of several regional carriers operating for Delta Airlines serving over 40 destinations, primarily out of Minneapolis/St. Paul, Detroit and Memphis.
