LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Nelson County grand jury has indicted a youth minister with manslaughter, wanton endangerment, and unlawful transaction with a minor. The charges against Ronald Derek Coulter come in the death of 13-year-old James Mitchell.
On June 24, WAVE 3 reported that Coulter allegedly allowed Mitchell to drive the SUV the two were in when it crashed during an overnight youth outing on June 6. Police say Coulter, the youth minister of Big Springs Assembly of God Church in Bloomfield, originally told them and the family that he was the driver and a deer caused him to swerve.
Police say Coulter finally told them the truth after another teen in the vehicle told investigators what happened.
