LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A national restaurant chain took time out this Labor Day to thank those public servants who work to protect us and keep us healthy. The Olive Garden Restaurant on Hurstbourne Parkway took lunch to the firefighters at the Lyndon Fire Station on New LaGrange Road. The event is something the chain of restaurants do at their locations around the country every Labor Day Holiday.
"All the Olive Gardens across the country, all 685, deliver food to a hospital, fire dept., police station, (or) one of our community leaders who's working on Labor Day for us," said General Manager Gary Litchfield. The program has been ongoing for eight years now and is appreciated by those who receive it. Lyndon Fire Captain Maury Tischendorf, says his crew loves it. "It gives the guys time to relax and enjoy a contribution from our community, we really enjoy it."
Two other Louisville Olive Garden Restaurants participated in the event also, taking lunch to a particular firehouse, police station or hospital in their community.
