SELLERSBURG, IN (WAVE) - Indiana State Police are investigating the death of a Scott County toddler.
Early Wednesday, investigators say two-year old Jacob Lord of Austin was taken to Scott Memorial Hospital by his mother with life threatening injuries. Jacob was transferred to Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville where he died Wednesday evening.
“It's too early to be able to know all of the injuries and hopefully the autopsy that is going to be performed will tell us a lot of that we’ll be needing to further our investigation,” said Sgt. Jerry Goodin of the Indiana State Police Sellersburg post.
The exact cause of Jacob’s death has not been released. The autopsy is set for Thursday morning.
Goodin said the case is currently being called a death investigation.
