One person killed in Gene Snyder crash

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - One person was killed and another person was seriously injured in a crash on the Gene Snyder Freeway early Monday.

Police say it happened in the northbound lanes near the Bardstown Road exit around 2 a.m. That's when the driver of a Chevy Cobalt apparently rear-ended an SUV, causing it to run off the road and overturn several times.

Two people inside the SUV were thrown from the vehicle. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other victim was taken to University Hospital and was expected to recover.

The driver of the Cobalt was not injured.

One northbound lane of the Snyder was closed for several hours while police cleared the scene.

Police say it doesn't appear that alcohol was a factor in the crash.
