Trucker shocked by power line in central Indiana

Posted: Updated:

MAXWELL, IN (AP) - Police say a driver was shocked after a grain silo he was hauling on a flatbed truck in central Indiana hit an overhead power line.

Hancock County authorities say 39-year-old Donald Beck of Shelbyville was driving on a rural road near the community of Maxwell when the accident happened Monday.

The Sheriff's Department says Beck was taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital in Indianapolis where he was listed in critical condition with severe burns.

Greenfield Fire Chief James Roberts says the silo was lying sideways on the truck bed when it became tangled with some live overhead wires and that Beck was shocked when he climbed onto the silo to remove the power lines.
