BARDSTOWN, KY (WAVE) – There is not a lot to see, but the clues are still visible two days later near the intersection of Nelsonville Road and Nelsonville Lane in Boston, KY. The location is where deputies say 47-year-old Donald C. Marshall died on November 10.

One note at the scene reads "Will miss ya greatly Donald. You were a great friend."

Investigators say they found Marshall, of Hodgenville, shot to death inside a white pickup truck at the intersection. The finding came after the Nelson County Sheriff's Department got a call about a possible collision and shots fired in broad daylight.

"The initial call came in to us from a citizen who resides in the area," said Chief Deputy Keith Greene of the Nelson County Sheriff’s Department.

The first deputies arrived within ten minutes of the call. Greene said one witness observed the white pickup truck being chased by a red Ford pickup just after 1 p.m. That witness also reported hearing at least two gunshots. Tips like these are what deputies are looking for to crack this case.

"We don't have magic crystal balls that we can look into and tell us information. A lot of folks have information and they're hesitant to bring it to our attention because they don't necessarily want to get involved," Greene said. "We're looking for, based upon some witness statements, a pickup truck, red in color operated most likely by a white male."

That red truck is an early model extended cab Ford pickup.

"We encourage people to call, regardless of if it is anonymous or if they feel comfortable leaving us name that always helps, for follow-up questions or things of that nature," Greene said.

The Nelson County Sheriff's Department is also working with agencies out of Larue and Marion counties along with Kentucky State Police. If you have any information about the early model red Ford pickup truck, call the Nelson County Sheriff's Department at 502-348-1870.
