LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Louisville's VA Hospital is a step closer to being named for a Kentucky World War I era veteran.
The U.S. Senate has approved a provision to change the hospital's name to the Robley Rex Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The provision is part of a military construction bill being considered right now.
Rex devoted over 14,000 hours of his time to help fellow veterans. He passed away in April 2009, days shy of his 108th birthday. He was the last living Kentucky veteran of the World War I era.
