LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - An eastern Kentucky man is dead after allegedly threatening a Kentucky State Police trooper.

Trooper Eric Taylor, who is assigned to the Richmond post, and five Boyle County Sheriff's deputies were serving a warrant at the home of 61-year-old Roger King on Forkland Road late Wednesday. According to Trooper Chris Lanham, public affairs officer for the Richmond post, the officers knocked on the front door and identified themselves, but there was no answer. When they walked around the back of the home, police say King was standing near a window with a gun pointing at the officers. Taylor fired one shot, striking King.

"We believe that Mr. King came to the door armed with a weapon and turns around and banished weapon," said Lanham.

King was pronounced dead at the scene. The shooting remains under investigation.
