NEW ALBANY, IN (WAVE) - A suspect remains hospitalized after being shot by police during a chase through two states. It started around 1:30 Monday morning in Jeffersonville when an Indiana State Trooper from the Sellersburg post tried to pull over a 1997 Honda Civic for a traffic violation on 10th Street near Spring Street.
The driver of the vehicle refused to stop, entering Interstate 65 South and driving into Kentucky. The driver then returned to Indiana via I-64 and the pursuit resumed with state troopers, Floyd County Sheriff's Deputies and New Albany City Police Officers chasing the vehicle.
The fleeing driver led police along several county roads before ending up in the 8800 block of Scottsville Road in Floyd County. That's where the chase ended when police shot the suspect.
One police officer was slightly injured during the chase, and three police vehicles were damaged. The suspect was taken to University Hospital but his condition was not considered life-threatening.
The suspect's identity was not immediately released. Charges are expected once the suspect is released from the hospital.
