LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Making stops for a major jobs announcement in Louisville and a fundraiser in southern Indiana, Vice President Joe Biden will be crisscrossing Kentuckiana Monday; but it's his first stop that's expected to generate good news for the area economy.

Biden was scheduled to speak at GE's Appliance Park at 11 a.m. for a major green jobs initiative announcement that appears to be reversing the trend of American jobs going overseas.

The appliance manufacturer recently announced it will be making three new energy-efficient appliance lines inside the plant; two of those three lines had previously been manufactured abroad.

With the investment of those jobs back in America, GE will be hiring more Kentuckiana workers.  In fact, it has already filled roughly 100 jobs. An additional 800 will be filled by 2013, company officials say.

It represents a roughly $600 million investment by GE in its Appliance Park operation, which has earned the company nearly $25 million in tax credits.

The announcement represents two things that President Obama used as campaign promises in during the 2008 election season, which may explain why VP Biden will be stopping in Louisville.
Getting jobs back in America and investing in green jobs were two of his priorities he listed during his campaign stops in the Kentuckiana area.

Biden was set to speak at 11 a.m., followed by a brief tour of the plant. WAVE 3 will be streaming the visit live here online.

Appliance Park employs approximately 4,100 people right now. Last year, company officials announced that a hybrid water heater, front load washers and dryers would be built at Appliance Park.
