CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - A West Virginia restaurant owner has pleaded guilty to laundering cash proceeds from an illegal gambling operation. U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin says 51-year-old Gregory A. Dotson of also operated an illegal poker machine parlor in the back of a tobacco store in South Williamson, Ky.
FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky's unemployment rate has inched downward. It dropped to 7.7 percent in January. The state Office of Employment and Training says the statewide jobless rate in January was down from the 7.9 percent rate in December. It's also an improvement from the 8.2 percent rate in January 2013.
FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky animal shelters could not use gas chambers to euthanize dogs, cats and other animals under a bill that passed the House of Representatives today. The bill's sponsor, state Rep. Joni Jenkins, D-Shively, said most of the state's animal shelters stopped using gas chambers years ago. She wants to find those that still do and stop them.
