(LOUISVILLE, November 12th, 2003, 5:30 p.m.) -- It's a problem that's bigger than you might think -- deadbeat dads and moms -- parents who refuse to pay child support. The search is on for them, but even detectives sometimes come up empty handed. They say you can help just by being on the lookout for certain people. WAVE 3's Charla Young reports.
The search is endless for Jefferson County child support detectives as they continually check homes and businesses in search of deadbeat moms and dads. Deadbeat parents behind on child support represent a problem all over the state, but there are at least 50 parents in Jefferson County that are well over the limit.
Those who've made the "most wanted list" in this area are over $1,000 behind in their child support.
One parent police are looking for is 30-year-old Rhonda Grant, who has been on the run for months. Another parent, 30-year-old Gary Hunter Jr., has not been tracked down by detectives to date.
Thirty-year-old Christopher Michael Grimes is wanted for thousands in back child support. And a warrant has been issued for 33-year-old Edward Gene Fisher's arrest.
These are just four of dozens of parents police say are far behind in taking care of their responsibilities.
If you have any information about any of these suspects, please call the Jefferson County Child Support Division at 502-574-8300.
