HODGENVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Police have arrested a man in connection to a police chase that resulted in the death of a Hodgenville police officer.
According to Norman Chaffins with the Kentucky State Police, Jason L. Avis, 29, was fleeing from police when Officer Mark Allen Taulbee, with the Hodgenville Police Department, lost control of his cruiser and crashed. Avis fled from the scene, but later turned himself in at the LaRue County Jail.
Taulbee was flown to University of Louisville Hospital where he died from the injuries sustained in the crash. He was wearing his seatbelt.
Avis is charged with wanton endangerment and fleeing or evading police. Other charges are pending.
