Funding Approved To Turn Old Ohio River Bridge Into Pedestrian Walkway

(LOUISVILLE, December 6th, 2004, 2 p.m.) -- It appears the abandoned Big Four Railroad Bridge over the Ohio River between Louisville, Kentucky and Jeffersonville, Indiana, is getting new life.

Kentucky Congresswoman Anne Northup (NORTH'-up) has secured four-and-a-half (m) million dollars to build a spiraling mound to make the Big Four Bridge a walkway between Kentucky and Indiana.

The bridge was erected in 1895 and last carried railroad traffic in 1969.
