Former Teacher Sent To Prison In Sex Case Involving Student

(McMINNVILLE, Tenn.) -- A judge in McMinnville Friday afternoon sent a former teacher to prison for seven years for having sex with a student.

Circuit Judge Bart Stanley revoked the probation for 29-year-old Pamela Rogers, a one-time elementary school teacher.

In his words, "You have done everything except show this court that you wanted to rehabilitate yourself."

Rogers apologized tearfully before being led away in handcuffs to the women's prison near Nashville.

She had served six months in jail after pleading "no contest" to having sex with a then- 13-year-old boy.

Rogers had been released on probation, then accused of violating the terms of it by first contacting the boy's family by Internet, then mailing him nude pictures of herself.

On Friday, the defense presented evidence from a clinical psychologist who said Rogers was a sex addict.

However, the judge questioned why she didn't seek mental help she said she needed.

The father of the boy testified he didn't want her to have any more contact with the family.
