Carrie Weil is an Emmy winning journalist. She currently anchors WAVE 3 Sunrise from 5 to 7 a.m. Monday through Friday.
Carrie is a fourth generation native Texan from Houston, but she calls Kentucky home. Carrie and her family, moved to Oldham County, Kentucky when she was nine where she grew up watching WAVE 3. She went from watching the station to working at it during college when she was hired as an intern her junior year. Over the next two years she worked her way up through the ranks. After graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of Louisville with a degree in Communication, Carrie was hired on as a reporter. "It was really a dream come true for me, I've wanted to do this since I was 7. So with a little skill, an amazing opportunity, and a whole lot of luck, my hard work paid off."
In January of 2002, Carrie joined the Sunrise team as an anchor on WAVE 3 Sunrise. That means Carrie is up at 2:30 every morning! In her years at WAVE, Carrie has landed the exclusive television interview with high school shooter Michael Carneal and covered the firing of IU coach Bobby Knight. She also received an Emmy for her work in 2003, for a story on the history of the Seelbach Hotel. Carrie's most popular story by far, was when she uncovered the true story about the "Kentucky Castle" in Versailles.
