Correct! American's Will Consume 48 Million Thanksgiving Turkeys

According to the National Turkey Federation (www.eatturkey.com), 96 percent of Americans eat turkey at some point during the holidays, with many of us eating turkey for our main Thanksgiving dinner.

According to the Federation's stats, 18 percent of the turkey's produced last year became somebody's Thanksgiving dinner. Apply that percentage to this year's turkey production -- 266,500,000 birds -- and 48 million turkeys are heading for the Thanksgiving table.

With the average turkey weighing in at 15 pounds, that's 720 million pounds of poultry!

Thanksgiving is the biggest turkey holiday. Last year, 22 million turkeys were eaten for Christmas dinner, and 19 million became Easter dinner.
