TAYLORSVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The Spencer County sheriff's department has closed down what it considers to be a fairly large marijuana growing operation. At least one person is being sought for the high-tech marijuana growing operation that cops raided Tuesday night.

Deputies were tipped off by a confidential informant that a growing operation was going on in the basement of a house in the 2300 block of Hickory Ridge Road in Mt. Eden, just outside of downtown Taylorsville.

"We have about 100 plants here," said Spencer County Sheriff Deputy Kyle Bennett. "Some of them are small, medium and a couple of large ones. A full size plant we estimate to be worth about a thousand dollars. We estimate this at full growth would be $100,000. We have all the paraphernalia (such as) lights, irrigation system, fertilizer that goes along with it."

After watching the house for almost a week and obtaining electrical usage records, officers obtained a search warrant and moved in late Tuesday night.

No arrests were immediately made, but police think they know who is responsible.

If you have any information on this case you're asked to call the Spencer County Sheriff's Department at 502-477-3200.
