FLINT HILL, KY (AP) - When the announcement was made that a century-old general store in Hardin County was being sold, business took an unexpected turn. Flint Hill General Store co-owner Wesley Cardin says he's seen a spike in sales since word got out he was selling the store. The News Enterprise in Elizabethtown reports that Cardin has sold 450 pounds of sausage in two weeks. He says many people are coming to the store to buy a keepsake. Cardin says he's sold "every hat, every T-shirt and 72 quarts of sorghum" leading up to Saturday's attempt at auctioning the business. So far the only official bid for the store was for $75,000. That's about $50,000 less than what the Cardins say they can take for the store and adjacent property. Cardin says he has another plan if it doesn't sell. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press.
