LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Police are still looking for suspects nearly seven months after a 16-year-old was murdered in April of 2009 at the Rangeland Manor Apartment Complex in the 5200 block of Russert Blvd.

It was a chaotic scene when Michael Crumes was shot dead on April 21, 2009.

"Witnesses tell us that they heard one gunshot," said LMPD Homicide Detective Barry Wilkerson.

Crumes was gunned down in broad daylight at the packed apartment complex, but Wilkerson says they aren't certain he was killed on purpose.

"This might not have been intentional at first," Wilkerson said. "So we're trying to determine exactly what's going on. We know there are, obviously, individuals who have that information."

A witness provided details about something he heard just before Crime was fatally shot near the playground:

"I told you not to play like that! Quit playing!"

Anyone with information on Crume's murder is asked to call the anonymous LMPD crime tipline at 574-5673.
