
WEST LAFAYETTE, IN (AP) - Robbie Hummel scored 14 points to help No. 7 Purdue beat Kentucky Wesleyan 74-52 on Monday night in its final exhibition game.
Freshman Patrick Bade scored 12 points and Ryne Smith added 10 for the Boilermakers, who open regular-season play Friday against Cal State Northridge.
Kwan Waller scored 16 points for Kentucky Wesleyan, a Division II school coming off a 55-52 win over Division I Evansville on Saturday.
Wesleyan guard Marico Stinson, a transfer from Indiana State who scored 24 points in a win over Purdue in 2006, was held to seven points on 3 of 10 shooting.
After falling behind 12-8 midway through the first half, the Boilermakers responded with an 18-0 run to lead 26-12 with 5:19 left in the half. The Boilermakers held the Panthers without a field goal for a 7-minute stretch in the first half.
