LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A house fire in the 2700 block of south Fifth Street has left a family homeless. The rear of the home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived just after 5 p.m. Tuesday.
No serious injuries were reported, but one firefighter did have a close call.
"There was a firefighter that fell through the roof," said Sgt. Salvador Melendez with Louisville Fire & Rescue. "He was able to pull himself up with assistance from another firefighter. He's OK."
The home suffered extensive damage, especially in the kitchen where investigators believe the blaze sparked.
