LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A viewer's complaint led to us to show you the shocking conditions at the now abandoned Louisville Regency mobile home park off of Manslick Road. The mobile home park is an eyesore to those who live nearby and we continued our attempts to find the property's owner.
About four months ago, residents at the park were given 30 days notice and told to move out after owner George Gradow could not get the property up to code. After some digging, we found several published articles that say in 2006 Gradow was sentenced to 15 months in prison after pleading guilty to tax fraud and altering financial documents in an effort to mislead the IRS.
Since the mobile home park closed, vandals have looted the trailers. The city said it has sent out inspectors and Gradow has been given notice to clean it up. We spoke Jim Mims, the director of Department of Codes and Regulations, to see what they plan on doing next.
“This being handled on an accelerated schedule and it will be going into court. Now we have to notify the owner and have him summoned to appear in court. As you know, it’s an out-of-town owner and that can be a little bit challenging,” said Mims.
Gradow’s business is listed in Colorado. Mims says if Gradow doesn't comply and clean up the trailer park, the city may take action and gain control of the property.
