LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - More details have been released on the settlement between firefighters and Louisville Metro government.

At the Metro Budget Committee meeting Wednesday night, we learned 42 firefighters originally excluded from the $45 million settlement will also be compensated.

Firefighters sued the city over back overtime pay which they said they were owed. 1/3 of the money will be paid in December 2009, the rest will be paid in 2010.

“We'll actually be selling some investments and converting those to cash,” said Councilman Jim King (D-District 10). “But it will be existing assets and then we'll be borrowing a part of it. It looks like it'll break down to 15 million dollars of assets that will be used, and 30 million in borrowed funds.”

Firefighters approved the settlement in October 2009 ending a nine-year legal battle.

Since the Budget Committee has approved the plan, it will be sent to the full Metro Council on November 19.
