LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Authorities in Henry County say a cyanide leak at a copper manufacturing plant in Eminence has been contained.

An official with the Kentucky Emergency Management Agency said the leak at Hussey Copper LTD Company on Mulberry Lane started around 10 p.m. Thursday.

Two employees at the plant were cleaning copper when they were overcome. Both workers were treated at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

According to the company’s website, the Eminence plant was opened in 1966 to produce electrical copper bus bar. The plant has over 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space and is now the leading bus bar producer in the world.

Cyanide is used in the production process at the plant.
