LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - You could spend more than $2,000 on a hotel room for Derby weekend, but for the first time the Galt House Hotel is giving your wallet a break. Deluxe and Executive suites are up for grabs in a first time Black Friday deal. The one-day special comes with 700 bucks in savings on rooms at the Official Derby Host Hotel.
"We've rolled back our prices to 2005," said Lisa Haller, executive director of sales and marketing for the Galt House. "We saw this as great opportunity to offer to the marketplace something in addition to all the retail specials for shopping on Black Friday."
Two packages are available if you are willing to pay in full next Friday for your stay on the first Saturday in May. The cost is $1,500 for the Exacta package and $2,000 for the Trifecta deal. Both options include a three night stay from April 29 to May 2, onsite self parking, complimentary health club and Wi-Fi access, a commemorative gift from the Galt House, welcome reception with complimentary food, beverages and entertainment, Churchill Downs on-site concierge services and one dozen roses as well. The difference in price accounts for the size of the room you want.
Officials tell us tickets to the races are not included and like placing a bet at Churchill Ddowns, you can't get your money back if you change your mind.
"Full payment is required on November 27th and it's non-refundable," Haller said.
"A limited number of rooms are available at the lower prices and you can schedule a tour to check out the rooms ahead of the sale. It starts Black Friday, November 26 at 1:36 a.m., in honor of the 136th Run for the Roses. The sale ends at 11:59 p.m. the same night. For more information you can visit the Galt House Hotel website or call 502-588-4043 if you'd like to schedule a tour of the available room types.
