LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A Pleasure Ridge Park area man was struck and killed Wednesday afternoon after his vehicle broke down on the Watterson Expressway during the evening rush hour.

It happened about 5:30 p.m. in the westbound lane near the Third Street ramp. MetroSafe says the victim, identified as 30-year-old Clifford Blevins, got out of a black Pontiac in the eastbound emergency lane after it suffered a flat tire. Blevins walked down the eastbound ramp to find a gas station.

When returning to the car, for some unknown reason, Blevins walked back up the westbound entrance ramp, and tried to cross 10 lanes of traffic. That's when he was struck by a white Lexus.

Louisville Metro Police tell us they do not expect to file charges and are calling it a tragic accident.

A woman who was in the car with Blevins was not injured.
