Police seek leader in thefts of horse trailers

LOUISVILLE (WAVE) -- A burglary ring in Bullitt County has been busted but police say they're still looking for the ring leader.

U.S. Marshals made the latest arrest in the case Thursday afternoon. Ashley McRea is being held at Metro Corrections. Three other suspects -- Virgil Warren, Harold Gaw and Amy Streible --were all arrested Tuesday. They're accused of stealing more than $100,000 worth of horse trailers and saddles.

The Bullitt County Sheriff says that Donnie Bentley, Jr. used his connections at local horse farms to get the stolen goods.

"Everybody comes and goes from these horse farms where they board horses. People always brings trailers in so its not uncommon to see someone go out with a trailer. So it was easy for for him to do," said Sheriff Donnie Tinnell.

With the the World's Championship Horse Show in town next week during the state fair,  police warn to be careful about buying trailers without seeing a title first.

If you've bought a trailer from Donnie Bentley, Jr., Bullitt County officials want to hear from you.
