LOUISVILLE (WAVE) -- Louisville Metro Police along with federal officials announced a major drug bust Friday in Louisville. Officials says the bust follows several months of investigation.
The 1,200 pounds of marijuana was in a semi that was driving into Louisville. According to police, the bust involves a major drug operation that stretches all the way to Mexico and that has been going on for years.
"Not only did we arrest the local distributor, we arrested the sources of supply for Mexico. We have five in custody today and an outstanding job goes out to our major interdiction unit and to our DEA agents," said Lt. Kim Kraeszig.
Investigators say that three of the five people arrested are illegally in the country. Officials are being tight lipped about the rest of the details because they say there could be more arrests in other parts of the country.
