ST. CROIX, IN (AP) - The search for three inmates who escaped from the Branchville Correctional Complex in Southern Indiana has now moved to Kentucky.
Sunday afternoon, Kentucky State Police found the stolen truck the three were believed to be in around 30 miles south of Cincinnati along Interstate 71. Troopers are now searching that area for the men.
Indiana State Police said a dark gray 1989 Ford F-250 with a light gray stripe was apparently stolen from St. Croix about 3 a.m. Sunday. Investigators found items from the prison near the area where the truck was stolen.
The inmates escaped Friday after authorities believe two of the men assaulted and injured a maintenance worker.
They are identified as 49-year-old Christopher Marshall, who's serving a 50-year sentence for dealing cocaine; 59-year-old Jerry Sargent, who's serving a 50-year sentence for robbery and criminal confinement; and 31-year-old Bobby Cockerell, serving a 20-year sentence for burglary.
The prison is about 50 miles west of Louisville.
