Saving money on prescription drugs

As the current economic crisis continues to rear its ugly head, many Americans are having a difficult time paying for prescriptions. Today on WAVE 3 Sunrise Saves You Money, we'll show you can cut down on your prescription costs.

It's estimated that the average American spends about $66 a month for prescriptions.  A new consumer poll found that two-thirds of patients are taking dramatic steps to get medication, or they're skipping it all together. Before doing anything, talk to your doctor first. They may suggest generics or even a new, free program that could save you a lot of money.

It's called "Total RX Access," and you could be looking at a savings of between 25 and 40 percent on more than 300 brand name prescriptions and generics.

Even better is the fact that more people qualify for the program than ever before. Here are the guidelines to take into consideration.

  • A person cannot be eligible for Medicare.
  • Must not have prescription drug coverage of any kind
  • Must be a legal citizen
  • Household income must be less than 90k per year

Once again, this is a FREE program to those who qualify.
