Analyst at psychiatric hospital indicted for abuse

LOUISVILLE, KY (AP) - A behavioral analyst at a Louisville psychiatric hospital was indicted for allowing a 17-year-old girl to beat her head on the floor more than 120 times.

The grand jury returned an indictment Thursday on the felony criminal abuse charge against Jeffrey E. Dillen.

The Louisville Courier-Journal reported that last year the state Cabinet for Health and Family Services concluded in a report that Our Lady of Peace hospital failed to assure the safety of the patient.

According to the report, staff members disregarded a doctor's order to put a helmet on her if she started banging her head.

Hospital president Tim Brady declined to say whether Dillen was disciplined over the incident or if he is still employed, but said the situation has been "very difficult for everyone involved."
