Child dies after being rescued from PRP house fire

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A toddler who was rescued from a house fire on June 1 in PRP, has died at Kosair Childrens Hospital.

Jefferson County deputy coroner Larry Carroll identified the child as 2-year-old Dylan Goldsmith, of Louisville, and said the cause of death, which occurred yesterday, was smoke inhalation.

Just before 6 p.m. on June 1, Pleasure Ridge Park fire crews were called to the home in the 7300 block of Ethan Allen Way. Upon arrival, they were told a child was inside.

Firefighters entered the structure and found Dylan unconscious in a bedroom of the single story home. He was taken to Kosair Childrens Hospital where he was in critical condition for almost a week.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
