Officer involved shooting in North Vernon

NORTH VERNON, IN (WAVE) - An Indiana man is facing multiple charges after an officer involved shooting late last night in North Vernon.

North Vernon City Police responded to a call just before 11:00 p.m. of a fight in an alley near the rear of 12 1/2 North Fifth Street.

When Police arrived on the scene, they say one of the alleged fighters, 29-year-old Jacob Miller ran into his apartment. hats when Police say they heard what sounded like multiple gunshots. At least one officer then fired his weapon.

The North Vernon City Police S.W.A.T team arrived and was able to talk Miller out of the apartment.

He had a gunshot wound and was taken to St. Vincent Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Police have not determined how many shots were fired or if Millers injuries were from an Officers weapon.

Jacob Miller faces several charges including criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and battery.
