LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The death of a man in Valley Station Wednesday night is being investigated by the Louisville Metro Police homicide unit.

Just after 11 p.m., emergency crews were called to the J.J. Smoke Shop at 10611 Dixie Highway on a report of a man down behind the building. The victim, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell says it appears foul play was involved. "When officers arrived they found the body of a man inside that received some type of trauma to it. We're not sure what that is at this point."

Homicide detectives are in the early stages of the investigation and have not said how the man died or if there are any suspects.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the LMPD Crime Tip Line at 574-LMPD (5673). You can also text your crime tips to LMPD. Just click the highlighted link for more details: Texting Crime Tips. All calls and texts to the Crime Tip Line are anonymous.
