LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The downtown and Shawnee branches of the Louisville Free Public Library system remain closed after Tuesday's flash flooding and the damage downtown is affecting other branches.
Thousands of books and some computers were damaged when the basement flooded at the main branch on York Street. Officials are now saying damage is estimated at $5 million, much worse than they first thought. Thursday, it was announced the downtown branch will be closed until after Labor Day.
The Louisville Free Public Library website is currently unavailable and there is no internet access at any of the library branches in the Metro. It is not clear when the website or internet access will be fixed.
