LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Anne Northup is headed back to Washington. Friday, the U.S. Senate confirmed the former Kentucky congresswoman as a commissioner to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Northup, 61, was nominated by President Obama as he increases the number of seats on the commission from three to five. The agency is responsible for policing the safety of consumer products.
Northup represented Kentucky's Third Congressional District as a member of the House of Representatives from 1997 to 2006. She was defeated by John Yarmuth in 2006.
