LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - What started as an apparent standoff in the city's west end last Tuesday night ended 7-1/2 hours later when police discovered the suspect had fled the scene.

According to Louisville Metro Police, it started just below 11:30 p.m. as a report of trouble between two people on Chestnut Street, between Dr. W.J. Hodge Street and 22nd Street. It turned out to be an attempted shooting at a house on Hodge Street.

LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell says the the suspect was a tenant who fired a shot at his landlord after an argument in the 500 block of Hodge.

SWAT was called out just before 1 o'clock Wednesday morning, and the bomb squad deployed a robotic camera around 5:30 a.m. to take pictures before giving the all clear an hour later.

Nearby streets were closed for several hours, but had all been reopened by 6:30 a.m.

The suspect is still on the loose. No word yet on a description.
