LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Saying he takes all the blame, Metro Councilman Jim King said he never knowingly violated the law by giving his daughter $130,000 which she mostly used in her race to become a judge.

Friday, the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance agreed, but they still said laws were broken. There will be no criminal charges, but Councilman King (D-District 10) still faces two civil counts that carry up to $5,000 fines. Judge Katie King faces three counts.

Councilman King said when his daughter asked him if the $130,000 unrestricted gift was legal, he told her, "I said, ‘yes Katie. I checked with our lawyers. We're ok on this.' And for her to get drug into this, it just doesn't seem fair, doesn't seem just."

Councilman King's CPA firm handled Judge King's campaign finance reports and the Councilman said he takes all the blame for any mistakes made on those reports.
