LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The shock probation request of a Louisville man who admitted to killing his mother goes before a judge on Wednesday.

59-year-old Robert Derrico made the request a few weeks ago. He was four months into a manslaughter sentence for the January 3, 2008 beating death of his 80-year-old mother, Josephine Derrico, whose body was found inside her home in the Portland neighborhood.

Derrico's former girlfriend contact WAVE 3 shortly after his shock probation request. She is afraid of becoming his next target.

"Please God, don't let him out. He don't deserve to be let out," said the woman, who did not want her name sued. "I don't want to wait until they find me dead, saying that Robert did it again."

Derrico pleaded guilty but mentally ill to manslaughter in the death of his mother.

Judge Mary Shaw will hear Derrico's shock probation request.
