LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A joint effort by local authorities has led to the arrest of four men believed to be responsible for at least 40 burglaries in the Louisville area.

Mt. Washington Police arrested Edward Savelli, the accused leader of the alleged theft ring, Nov. 3.

Investigators say Savelli, his alleged partner Steven Watson, as well as Thomas Houtchins and son, Jacob Houtchins, targeted items such as TVs and jewelry, which they would later melt down for cash.

The men were caught thanks to a joint investigation involving the Bullitt County Sheriff's Office, Mt. Washington Police and Louisville Metro Police.

All four men face numerous burglary and theft related charges.

Mt. Washington Police Detective Buddy Stump says more charges are expected.
