HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) - Hamilton police are looking for the person or persons who killed a man Monday night.

A horrified voice tells the tale of a brutal death.

911 Caller: "I don't know, I can't tell, he's laying slumped in the corner, I don't want to believe it."

The 9-1-1 caller had just found 30-year-old Steven Denmark, shot in his Hamilton home just before 7:00 p.m. Monday night.

911Caller: "I was upstairs, he answering the door and somebody shot him."

Hamilton Police say the caller, a female who also lived at 216 South 11 Street where it all happened, was upstairs at the time of the shooting.

"She was upstairs and what she heard were just three shots, three shots, she game downstairs and when she came down there Mr. Denmark, Steven Denmark has been shot three times," said Officer Richard Burkhardt of the Hamilton Police Department.

But by the time the caller had found Denmark, the suspects were out of sight.

"When she came down she was in a state of shock, and the people were gone, they were gone, she didn't get a look," Burkhardt said.

Police say Denmark had a few run ins with the law, but say he was well liked in his community, now they're just searching for answers

"It's not that kind of thing where officers know him real well, so right now detectives are trying to get the full picture about what's going on here,"Burkhardt said.

Anyone with information should call Hamilton Police.
