MOREHEAD, KY (AP) - Morehead State University will offer it's first doctoral degree this fall after receiving approval for the first such program since the school gained university status in 1966.
The Daily Independent in Ashland reports that the initial class of students will have two tracks of pursuit, administrative education leader and educational technology leader.
Morehead State Education Dean Cathy Gunn says the program is aimed at eastern Kentucky education leaders already working in schools.
Degree candidates would work with teams of educators in their schools to improve the school or solve local educational problems.
Provost Karla Hughes says Morehead State worked closely with Vanderbilt University and used its program as a model.
